Villeroy & Boch's "Wonderful World" Collection
Wow, who knew Villeroy & Boch made such cool, wild, and colorful dinnerware? I always thought their dishes were more subdued, but the Wonderful World collection is anything but. There are three solid colors: black, orange, and yellow. Each piece is white with solid blocks of the color, like for instance a wide rim around the bowls and plates. Then there are also pieces in two bold patterns: Ipanema and Timbuktu. Ipanema, which reminds me of the song "Girl from Ipanema," has an exotic, jazzy, "south of the border" feel with lots of swirls, florals, and bright colors on a white background. The other pattern, Timbuktu, has bold black patterns inspired by African designs, also on a white background. You can mix and match these two patterns with the three bold colors for a wonderfully exotic and festive look. I'm thinking of getting the black and orange ones and a few of each of the Ipanema and Timbuktu pieces. I think they'd be perfect for festive dinner parties—I'd feel like the whole party was on vacation in the Caribbean!
the problem with this collection (that included also pink, blue, yellow, green and red solid plates and colorful polka dots accesories) is that is being discontinued and is very difficult to find.
Very true! It's too bad.
